Mended Earth

This piece is part of the Lacera collection, within the ‘Mended Forms’ series. The form appears as though it has been shaped by time itself — it unfolds, transforms and takes on a calm, grounded presence. The tears on the surface, combined with lacing made from natural cowhide, become part of the structure, holding the composition together through tension and restraint.

The surface is finished in a deep, weathered earth tone with a mineral-like depth. Its tactile irregularity and subtle variations evoke the natural ageing of the material, embracing imperfection as an integral part of its character.

The piece is crafted from a paper-based sculptural clay developed by the artist, combined with lacing made from natural cowhide, which remains an integral visual and structural element.

This piece is, first and foremost, a sculptural statement. It can also be used to display minimalist arrangements of dried plants.

Its aesthetic aligns with the ‘Wabi-sabi’ and ‘Organic Modern’ styles, in which material, texture and a understated presence define the space.
