The sculptural form symbolizes a vessel of life that has passed through a storm and forever lost its original integrity. Everything has already happened. The storm has subsided, but the former form is gone, as is the strength to remain within it. The work conveys a state in which life is assembled from the last surviving fragments and held together by thin, accidentally found fastenings. There is no outward drama in this state—only acceptance: despite all the destruction, you remain yourself and find within you the strength simply to be. The artist’s mark is deliberately placed in the traditional position on the bottom of the vessel, indicating that the vessel has been overturned. The possibility of displaying the work vertically is an intentional part of the artistic statement. In this position, the work will balance and remain in a precarious, unstable state—just like a life feeling its way toward a new and fragile equilibrium. Handcrafted from the artist’s proprietary composite cellulose clay, the work reinterprets structural seams and ruptures as an integral part of its emotional narrative rather than as traces of repair. Unlike traditional studio ceramics, which are inherently brittle and susceptible to breaking upon impact, the artist’s composite material possesses exceptional structural strength and high impact resistance. Although the work visually resembles an unfinished, raw texture, it is remarkably strong, resilient, and lightweight. This durable object has been created exclusively as a non-functional work of art for interior display. Not intended to hold water.
